Weather conditions: overcast, It had just rained like all day off and on.

Rush hour is NOT a good time to get a machete out of your car and walk into the woods.... oh well. no troubles this time, got in, got out. Sorry about the weird lighting, daylight was fading fast and I had to get this done so everything has a blue tint to it.

Temperature: 36º F

Today, I saw some deer tracks right along the water. I hope to continue seeing those, and hope those deer don't get shot. I'm also hoping to go to the site while the koho salmon are running, because That would be great to get pictures of. Scariest moment today, I look across the stream and down a bit, and there was a man standing there looking at me. But, I had a machete, and I felt pretty safe, although still alarmed. (I think he was just fishing, at least thats what I hope).

Time: 4:00
Temperature: 49 ºF
Weather conditions: chilly with a small wind that made it even more chilly.

So today, I saw a bunch of what looked to be oil over in the corner of my video.... not really sure what that was all about. I'm pretty sure I'm getting noticed with the machete.... more and more people slow down as they drive by and I'm grabbing it out of my car. haha.

The outside of the curve had eroded .01cm this time, while the inside had gained .03 cm. The middle stayed the same again.

So today, I had a random dude appear on the other side of the river and talk about salmon. That was weird, and a little awkward, because I was sitting there holding this huge knife...

Time of day: 3:00
Temperature: a cool 60 degrees outside
Length of day: 10 hrs 45 mins
Organisms felt: I cut through a vine with my machete to feel the inside. I found out it felt just like a log. a bit of a disappointment.

ALRIGHT! week two has rolled around and I once again visited my spot. this time, i brought a machete to get back there with, made life a LOT easier. heres the video that I took while at my spot.

Here's a photo from each of the three areas on the first visit. As you can see, there's water running through it thankfully, which means erosion will occur unlike the other site that was bone dry.

Welcome to my science project blog for the first semester of 2010! Through out the year I will be making periodic visits to a plot of land that I have picked out to just study certain things about the environment. Ill be taking pictures, making a few videos,  and updating hopefully once a week on this blog. We'll start with where this plot is. I'll put two maps up here for you to check out where it is in relationship to my school, and one thats from google earth showing you exactly whats at this place.
